Do You Have Shoulder Pain?
We don't think much about our shoulders until they start to give us pain. Most people immediately start looking for the best chiropractic care in Marine City because they are always using their shoulders to lift and extend their arms, to carry, wave and perform numerous other motions and tasks. The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body and as a result it is subject to a wide range of injuries and conditions.
Shoulder problems that go unchecked can lead to lifelong, debilitating issues. In order to properly treat the shoulder joint and achieve long-term relief it is important to identify the cause of shoulder pain. This article explains some of the common causes of shoulder pain and how chiropractic care can return the shoulder to functional health.
Shoulder Pain in Marine City
The causes of shoulder pain are seemingly endless, but let's go over some of the more common causes for pain in the shoulder. Shoulder pain may be the result of conditions, such as:
- Neck and upper back tightness
- Spinal misalignment
- Abnormal patterns of movement
- Athletic injuries and automobile accidents
While a few of the items on this list may indicate localized swelling in the shoulder joint, more of them point to the spine as the probable source of pain. The nerves that control the shoulder originate in the spine. If the vertebrae around the neck and upper back are compressed or injured, the nerves that go to the shoulder will be irritated and cause pain. Even a minor spinal misalignment can interrupt communication between the nerves and the shoulder and a cascade of problems can begin. So, what appears as shoulder pain may actually be referred pain from the spinal column.
Symptoms of Shoulder Injury
Due to the wide range of causative factors, shoulder pain and abnormal motion in the joint may develop gradually or come on suddenly. Symptoms of a shoulder injury are occasionally very subtle, but even these can develop into major issues. Since the shoulder joint is used in the vast majority of activities that we engage in daily, all symptoms involving the shoulder should be monitored carefully and treated promptly to avoid progression of the problem. Symptoms indicating the need for an immediate evaluation of the shoulder complex include:
- Shoulder pain that lasts for more than a week
- Shoulder pain that goes away and then returns frequently
- Difficulty raising your arm above your head
- Trouble or pain when carrying objects
- Pain in the shoulder joint that becomes more pronounced in the evening
- Any visual signs of damage to the joint such as bruising or swelling
- Unusual snapping or clicking sensations in the joint during movement

My family and I have been going to Dr. Morgan for at least the last 3 years. It sounds silly, but I didn’t know that he could help frozen shoulders until I had a fall at work and really hurt my left shoulder. It was so bad I was preparing my mind for surgery. I know I have arthritis in my shoulder and it hurt so badly after this fall I really thought I had torn my rotator cuff. I told Dr. Morgan and within days I had an x-ray, MRI and an orthopedist consult. They agreed, No surgery! Thank god, but I still couldn’t lift my arm and was in a ton of pain that would not let up. My orthopedist referred me to Dr. Morgan and wouldn’t you know, after 1 treatment I was amazed at how I could move and lift my arm up again. Now there still was some pain, but nowhere near what it was when I first came in and it was after just one treatment. I know that my shoulder will be just as good as new when my treatments are finished, because now like my spine, my shoulder is in Dr. Morgan’s more than capable hands. Thanks Dr. Morgan!

My name is Chris. About 20 years ago my shoulder was dislocated after a car accident and was never the same again. Over time when I would complain my medical doctors would give me pills, shots and physical therapy. None of that ever helped me. I do physical work and need to move for my job, so even when it was bad I would just work through the pain. I heard good things about Dr. Morgan around town and decided to start seeing him. After 2 weeks I was able move my arm and shoulder over my heads. The strength has returned and I love being able to pick up and play with my grandkids again. Work has become a lot easier and my wife say’s I’m not so grumpy. I know it’s because my shoulder doesn’t hurt anymore. I still see Dr. Morgan regularly to make sure I stay in good shape. Dr. Morgan and ACMS are life savers!

When I first came to Dr. Morgan I did not thank that he could help me. See, I work 50-60 hrs, 5-6 days a week in a factory lifting, loading unloading heavy parts all day. So my right shoulder would always hurt and throb so bad that it kept me up at night. I’m right handed and I couldn’t even lift it over my head. The medications did not stop the pain or help me lift my arm up. Recently, I was a pallbearer at a funeral and lifting the coffin really hurt it. I was so blown away and couldn’t believe how much better my shoulder pain was after 1 treatment. After 2 treatments I could raise my arm over my head and there was nowhere near the pain that I had just 4 days ago. I still can’t believe it! So now I’m telling everybody, if you have shoulder pain Dr. Morgan is your guy!
